Kemsol has become a known and trusted brand across most New Zealand commercial, industrial and institutional sectors. For over 25 years now, proudly delivering consistently on customer-focused promises.
High quality, purpose-formulated cleaning and sanitising products manufactured in New Zealand, by a Kiwi owned company, sets the stage. Early adopters of ‘green’ formulation strategies, Kemsol’s packaging is designed for safe and efficient use, labelling is clear, accurate and compliant, and, where possible, components are produced with recycled and recyclable materials. The team behind the Kemsol brand are available to answer questions and to provide training – ensuring product is delivered in the safest, most cost-effective, and environmentally responsible manner possible.
By using Kemsol products you are helping take care of your staff, customers and the environment – this forward-thinking approach was part of the vision of Kemsol’s founding chemist, Peter Vaughan.
In the early 80’s, Pete thought that a New Zealand made range of commercial products, made with safer ingredients and outstanding performance, could compete head-on with local and imported multi-national products – and he was right. A self-taught chemist, Pete worked hard from basic premises, with just a concrete mixer and a half-built shed in South Auckland – single-handedly formulating, testing, manufacturing, packaging and dispatching to the market. As demand for product increased, his adopted sons stepped-in, and helped raise Pete’s awareness to use even safer raw materials to help better protect the health of his working family, and ultimately the health of all end users. This core value automatically extended to better environmental practices and stronger responsibility - raw material selection was now based on biodegradable research and properties; manufacturing processes were refined to reduce waste, and packaging selection was based on recyclable considerations. This ethos continues today.
The late 80’s presented economic challenges, and by good fortune he met Terry Morris, looking at the time to invest in a scalable manufacturing business with export potential, and a formidable team emerged. With the shared ethic of hard work, strong family values, and environmentally responsible manufacturing, Kemsol brand represents one of New Zealand’s largest privately-owned cleaning product manufacturers, distributing nationally, exporting to the Pacific and beyond.
Kemsol products are proudly manufactured from modern, unique facilities at Airport Oaks, Auckland. The inhouse laboratory continues to provide research and development on sustainable raw materials, innovative products, as well as facilitating stringent batch testing for all manufactured product.
The technical team maintain a fully equipped research and development laboratory, to produce safe, effective, and biodegradable formulations, that have a focus on protecting the environment. 40% of the production plant’s water requirement is served from rainwater collected on site. Where possible, raw material packaging is re-used and non-recyclable waste packaging is compacted, reducing landfill and other associated impacts. All pallets are recycled, product labels are removable to assist in recycling processes, and finished goods packaging is fully recyclable.
Since then our business has grown, moving to a factory in James Fletcher Drive, a further move to a purpose built facility at Airport Oaks in 2006, then to our new home at Freight Place, Airport Oaks. With extra office/manufacturing and laboratory space the business is now ready for the next stage of growth.
